Sukey Parnell Johnson: Dissecting Images – Medicine and the Photographic Body

Sukey Parnell Johnson and Liz Orton have collaborated to present a new online course, Dissecting Images: Medicine and the Photographic Body, as part of the Performing Medicine programme for Clod Ensemble. Designed for both arts and health professionals, the participatory course connects visual practice to theory to reconsider how medical and photographic technologies categorise and codify bodies, and contribute to health inequalities in visual cultures. The course utilises photography as a medium of both production and creative inquiry to challenge potentially harmful image pathologies, and explore instead what new care-ful representations might look like and how we might we find a visual language for invisible illnesses.

The course sold out shortly after being published by Clod Ensemble but is expected to run again later in the year.
